Bacterial Count & Recommended Dosage

Dr. Ohhira suggests the loading factor when addressing any chronic condition. In other words, take a minimum of five capsules in A.M. with plenty of pure water, waiting at least 45 minutes before breakfast and again a minimum five in P.M. two hours after food before bed for six days. That will be the entire contents of one box. After that, the severity of the problem determines the dosage at this point. Again, Dr. Ohhira suggests two to four capsules daily as a maintenance dosage. Please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to discuss any situation with you. Toll-free 1-866-424-1077

Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics are the finest of its kind on the market today and if taken in the proper dosage and length of time, it will solve many problems. Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics should be taken 45 minutes before breakfast with plenty of pure water and again at bedtime, assuming that one has not eaten for a least two hours. Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics is an award-winning, proprietary blend of 92 natural, organic, non-dairy ingredients including wild fruits, seaweeds, vegetables, herbs and pure mountain spring water. It contains 12 strains of live lactic acid bacteria including the unique Enterococcus faecalis TH 10, 18 amino acids, 4 organic acids, eight minerals, and ten vitamins. It also contains important natural by-products such as hydrogen peroxide and natural antibiotics.
Bacteria (780 million LAB per capsule) include:
Bifidobacterium breve ss. breveBifidobacterium infantis ss. infantisBifidobacterium longumEntercoccus faecalis TH 10Enterococcus faeciumLactobacillus acidophilusLactobacillus bulgaricusLactobacillus casei ss. caseiLactobacillus fermentumLactobacillus helveticus ss. jagurtiLactobacillus plantarumLactobacillus thermophilus.

It was carefully isolated and fermented over a 3 year period which increases its antibiotic potential. As a result it has become strong enough to kill the “superbugs” such as Methicillin resistant Staph. aureus known as MRSA or resistant H. pylori as well as others. The other bacteria in this formula are also proven pathogen killers.

The human body , although created with a proper ratio of good to bad bacteria, frequently alters the ratio of bacteria as a result of today’s modern lifestyle. ‘The use of antibiotics inhibits not only bad bacteeria but also good bacteria, thus permitting bad bacteria, to invade the GI tract and multiply in high numbers that disturb the delicate balance between the good and bad bacteria. This balance also is upset by the use of oral contraceptives, steroids, exposure to radiation through x-rays and radiation therapies, excessive consumption of chlorinated water, the consumption of refined sugars and other refined foods, poor digestion, poor elimination of waste, stress, an unhealthy diet, etc.

Scientists have determined that when the delicate balance between good and bad bacteria is adversely altered, the body is overloaded with toxins and disease. According to imminent healthcare professionals, toxins emanating from the GI tract are the cause of most chronic diseases and illnesses. Scientists also have determined that there are many negative health effects that stem from the loss of probiotics, including the lack of recirculation of female hormones such as estrogen and the overgrowth of detrimental, disease-causing bacteria and yeasts such as Candida albicans, Straphylococcus u us, E. coli, Yersinia enterocolitis, Clostridium difficile, etc.

We know that even antibiotics, one of the wonder drugs of the 20th Century, have limitations and their frequent use and misuse often lead to ill health. There are a growing number of microorganisms that have developed partial or total resistance to some antibiotics. Further, wide-spectrum antibiotics cannot distinguish between the “bad” and “good” bacteria and they kill both the good along with the bad. This indiscriminate killing of bacteria can be the worst side effects of antibiotics.”

There are some people in the United States who continue to believe the myth that a probiotic product is inferior if the bacterial count does not equal several tens of billions. This belief is wrong and its proponents most likely are not familiar with state-of-the-art probiotic products developed in Japan using a five-year, natural temperature fermentation process!

The Japanese, recognized as leaders in the development and use of probiotics, discontinued their efforts to further increase the bacterial count in their probiotic products more than a decade ago. That decision was based on scientific research that ultimately, late in the 20th Century, led to the development of new, high technology probiotic products. Today, the best of the Japanese probiotic products appears to be several technological generation ahead of all freeze dried and most other probiotic products now being manufactured in the United States.

Usually, a product that contains tens of billions of live lactic acid bacteria is endorsed because of the mistaken belief ( and hope ) that substantial numbers of the bacteria might survive the challenging journey that begins with the manufacturing process and concludes with the implantation of the bacteria in the colon. It has now been established that the majority of the lactic acid bacteria contained in high bacterial count products die before they are consumed and that many of the remaining bacteria are often killed after consumption.

By the time freeze-dried and certain other probiotic products are eaten, they do not contain the high numbers of live lactic acid bacteria guaranteed by the manufacturer to be present at the time of packaging. Eighty percent of the bacteria die before consumption! The remaining live bacteria often do not survive the trip from the mouth to the colon because of their inability to endure exposure to harsh stomach acids. Live bacteria also die after reaching the colon if sufficient levels of naturally developed fructooligosacchaarids ( FOS ) are not present when they arrive. The natural FOS are required to nourish the bacteria and permit their survival while battling well-established colonies of bad micro flora already existing in the colon.

Japanese research scientists, including the award-winning microbiologist, Iichiroh Ohhira, Ph.D., and his team of research scientists from Okayama University, do not recommend using probiotic products that allegedly contains tens of billions of live lactic acid bacteria. They recommend products that contain several strains of naturally developed organic acids that are encapsulated along with important strains of live lactic acid bacteria, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Dr. Ohhira’s probiotic product, which was developed late in the 1980’s was selected as the Best Product of the Year in Japan in 1991, and improved over time, contains four types of naturally- fermented organic acids that enhance the body’s ability to generate lactic acid bacteria and support the bodies efforts to utilize the 12 strains of friendly lactic bacteria contained in the enteric-coating, the entire contents of the capsule survive the trip to the colon. This permits the live lactic acid bacteria to thrive while they fight and destroy the bad bacteria residing in the colon. The bacteria consume these same naturally developed fructooligosacchaarides (FOS) while existing in the enteric-coated capsule. thus leading to a five -year shelf life.

The Proprietary E. faecalis TH 10 strain of live lactic acid bacteria present in the product may be the most important component of Dr. Ohhira’s probiotic product. This strain was developed from the Malaysian food delicacy–Tempeh. It is 6.25 times stronger than any other know lactic acid bacteria. This strain is guaranteed to kill and remove the bad bacteria linving in the colon, as well as eliminate the toxins produced by those bacteria. The TH 10 then remains in the colon and if a pathogenic invader, the TH 10 strain, along with the T cells and B cells, attack and destroy the invader. As university based in vitro scientific studies indicate, the TH 10 strain is effective against E. O-157, H. pylori, the Methicillinresisstant Straphylococcus aureus “superbug” etc. TH 10 is the foremost ingredient of a 2lst Century approach to good health.

The Japanese are not the only scientists who caution against using high bacterial count probiotics. Probiotics: A Critical Review discusses the body’s autoimmune response to the invasion of tens of billions of lactic acid bacteria–whether they are alive or dead, friendly or unfriendly. The author notes that when a large number of bacteria enter the body, it determines if the invading bacteria are of “self” or “non-self.” When the body determines that the invasion of bacteria is of “non-self.” it attacks the bacteria and a substantial number are destroyed because of the immune system’s normal response to “non-self” invaders. The Japanese scientists, knowing of this immune system response, reduced the number of bacteria in their product to assure a favorable immune system reaction. Also, the bacterial count in Dr. Ohhira’s product is sufficient to guarantee the existence of the requisite number of probiotics in the colon. Further, the bacteria in this product are demonstrably stronger than lactic acid bacteria in any other probiotic product, thus further encouraging a lower bacterial count in the probiotic
