Chris Barr Interview Pt1: Whole Food Nutrients

I interviewed NotADoc AKA Chris Barr on the HUGE importance of whole food nutrients as opposed to synthetic man made derivatives! This is Part 1 of a 4-part interview series that will cover 100% Whole Food GTF Chromium, Selenium & Silicon.

Who is NotADoc (Chris Barr)?

NotADoc is a nutritional historian who has been investigating and applying research in nutrition through five decades. He has been involved with GTF Chromium, Selenium and Silicon research throughout this period of time. NotADoc is the author of two books, NEWtrition & YOU about Chromium “Sparkling health for your life and living!” & Newtrition & YOU about Selenium “One Cancer Answer 100 years and counting”

All 3 of the supplements that we will be discussing as well as other ones recommended by Chris Barr are available in my store under: https://choosetobehealthy.com/pa_brand/chris-barr

Johnathan:

Hello, my name is Johnathan Wagner with choosetobehealthy.com  We’re an online health food store.  And we’re making a few videos and our first video is with Mr. Chris Barr, who I’ve known for probably about 7-8 years now.  Well more like 10 now.

Chris:

More than 10.

Johnathan:

I first met you through my father, Chuck Wagner, who actually started the online health food store back in, I think, ’97.  I first met Mr. Barr here, actually I think it was in Las Vegas, or Anaheim, California at a supplement store.  And I’ll never forget walking out into the show.  And it’s a big, big, big show.  And I’ll never forget, you said to me.  Look around Johnathan.  And it’s big.  The vast majority of these supplements are useless.  But I don’t want our government telling us what we can or can’t take.  And that always kind of stuck with me.  So if you could tell us a little bit about yourself.  You’re a natural food historian and you’ve helped a lot of people.  So if you could give us a little background about yourself and how you came into the nutritional world, especially whole food nutrients, that’d be great.

Chris:

Back in the 1970’s, it’s really through my wife’s first pregnancy.  Everyone wants what’s best for their child and my wife was pregnant.  So I began to look into one thing and another, and part of it was that it wasn’t much nutrition, but it came to that after the birth of my first born. And I just started looking what to me made sense, to look at nutrients from food.  I didn’t realize when I started that people talked about that, but they really didn’t do that.  Nutrients were primarily created in laboratories.  Or what they call nutrients to this day, I don’t call them that.  If it isn’t from food, it’s not a nutrient.   They are ground up rocks, petroleum by-products.

Johnathan:

Coal-tar I think you said.

Chris:

Coal tar products were also used to create B vitamins.  Cigarette warning labels says contains coal-tar and it’s bad for your health.  And they are making “vitamins” out of that.  They synthesize them out of that.  Well, they aren’t the same as they are found in food.  I just started looking and it’s been a life since then and what I’ve had people tell me is a revolutionary idea.  I wasn’t trying to start a revolution, it just made sense to me.  Nutrients should be from food.  There is a difference.   And your body knows the difference between nutrients from food and what are called nutrients that are made my man.

Johnathan:

Amen

Chris:

They aren’t the same.  They don’t look the same if you examine them with color chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, even under an electron microscope.  They don’t look anything at all alike, even though they have the same chemical makeup.  They are physically different.  They are bioelectrically different.  They are biophysically different.  So I’ve found this since, I didn’t know that when I started, it just made sense to me.

Johnathan:

Again, this is back in the late 70’s.

Chris:

Late 70’s, and really my foundation is in the early 80’s, and finding what a difference nutrients made from food.  More than 95% of the nutrients found in the marketplace are not food.  And of the 5% that are called whole food, more than half of those are the same 95% mixed with a little bit of food.  So it’s a very small amount that are actually grown and food… vitamin this and mineral this or multivitamin, multimineral that are food.  That you can count on one hand.  And again, there is a difference, and your body know the difference between nutrients grown vs those made in a laboratory.

Johnathan:

Great!  So really, since 1979, and tell us a little bit more if you would about how you came across, just quickly, Selenium, Chromium, Silica… which we’re going to talk about.

Chris:

That’s almost happenstance.  You could call it divine providence perhaps.  We were working with companies that specializing in Selenium and they had Chromium also in a food form and seeing the difference that made.  Again, I was looking for food nutrients and it was hard to find.  And it just expanded from there that all nutrients should be food.  Seeing what a difference there was, about the last three nutrients identified as essential and agreed by science are Selenium, Chromium, and Silica, and they are the most removed from the foods that American’s most consume.  I started there and just branched out.  If a nutrient is not from food, I don’t work with it.  I almost routinely see what others call miracles, and that’s because the nutrients I work with are food, and the vast majority of everybody else are not using any food or just a little bit.

Johnathan:

Well, Chris, I appreciate that, and we’ll get on to talking about the Chromium.

Chris:

Great!  Thank-you
